SWAT Team Arrests Alleged Car Thief After Standoff in Monrovia

An auto theft suspect was taken into custody Thursday night after holing himself up in a Monrovia home following a brief police chase, officials said.

Arcadia police began pursuit at1:30 p.m. and ultimately sped down Ivy towards Central in Monrovia.
The driver failed to pull over. The vehicle then hit two vehicles en route.
The suspect fled the stolen Lexus and ran into a house in the 100 block of Central Avenue in Monrovia.

SWAT team members and scores of police from Arcadia, Monrovia, Pasadena and CHP were involved in securing the area.
Armed officers attempted to get the man to surrender. Several SWAT members went door to door to find the suspect when. After about 7 hours, the suspect was booked into custody.
